The following notes provide guidance on searching the Food Science Central website. Simple search An easy-to-use site-search facility is available at top left on all screens. Type in your search term(s) and select the section of the website you wish to search
If you enter more than word, the search is treated as a phrase search. For example, the search genetic modification looks for the occurrence of this phrase in the website. Boolean searches are performed using lower case for the operators and, or, and not. For example the searches
Use quotation marks to search for phrases that include boolean operators. For example the search "oils and fats" will find all occurrences of the phrase. Advanced search Advanced search uses a similar syntax for searches but also allows keyword searching and more precise selection of sections of the website to search in. Keywords can be selected from the list by clicking on them one at a time. If more than one keyword is required the appropriate boolean operator can also be selected from the drop down menu at the foot of the list. Website sections
